FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) requires all newly licensed sales associates to complete 48 hours of post-licensing education within two years of their initial license issuance date. This education is mandatory and designed to provide new agents with essential skills and knowledge to succeed in their first years of practice.

You must complete a total of 48 hours of post-licensing education. We offer these courses in an affordable course package, or you can purchase these individually.

The KREC mandates specific topics for the 48-hour requirement. Our post-licensing package includes all the required subjects:

  • Agency and Disclosure: Focusing on relationships with clients and legal disclosure requirements.
  • Contracts and Forms: In-depth review of real estate contracts and official forms used in Kentucky.
  • Finance and Closing: Understanding real estate financing, loan types, and the closing process.
  • Fair Housing and Professional Conduct: Covering fair housing laws, ethics, and professional standards of practic

You have exactly two years from the date your initial real estate license was issued to complete the 48 hours. The KREC tracks this date, and failure to complete the hours on time can result in your license being placed in escrow or even being suspended.

Yes. Each course concludes with an online final exam. You must pass each of these exams with a score of 75% or better. Unlike the pre-licensing exam, these are not proctored and you have multiple attempts to pass.

While you can technically take courses from different KREC-approved providers, it is often easier and more cost-effective to complete all 48 hours with a single school like Kentucky Real Estate College. Our packages are designed to provide a cohesive learning experience and ensure you meet all requirements efficiently.

If you fail to complete all 48 hours within two years of your license date, your real estate license will be automatically placed in escrow. You will not be able to practice real estate until the hours are completed and your license is reinstated. You may also face fines or other disciplinary action from the KREC.

No. Post-licensing education hours are a separate, one-time requirement for new licensees and do not count towards the 6-hour annual Continuing Education (CE) requirement for your license renewal. After you have completed your 48 hours, you must begin fulfilling the annual 6-hour CE requirement.

After you successfully complete a course, we will electronically report your completion to the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. We handle this reporting process for you, so you can focus on your career. You should always keep your certificates of completion for your own records.
